Way Back When Consulting Historians is a team of four qualified, accredited professional historians, committed to representing the past to the public in a meaningful and dynamic way. We endeavour to foster connections to the past that inform and give meaning to the present.
Way Back When historians are experienced in carrying out history projects big and small that incorporate research, community engagement and writing to the brief of a commissioning agent. With over fifteen years’ experience we have a strong background in communicating histories in various forms. With proven skills and expertise in analysing and interpreting research material, undertaking heritage research and interpretation, exhibition curation, oral history projects and preparing written work of a very high standard, we have the experience and confidence to take on any history project or research request.
We also offer workshops and expert advice on uncovering the history behind heritage homes and we are experienced land and title researchers.
Professional Affiliations / Qualifications
Way Back When is committed to upholding professional industry standards. All Way Back When historians have postgraduate history qualifications, each having completed the Master of Public History at Monash University. All members of the team are accredited members of the Professional Historians Association (Victoria & Tasmania), members of Oral History Victoria and Friends of the History Council of Victoria. We are actively involved in our professional community via membership of a variety of committees and boards, as well as regular participation in events and professional development.
