Turning Gray Carpentry and Joinery

Timber and Joinery

Turning Gray is a family carpentry and joinery business passionate about preserving, restoring and replicating historic/period architectural timber work throughout the Dandenong Rangers and Yarra Valley.

We are committed to prioritizing restoration over replacement where ever possible to retain original fabric, craftsmanship and historical value.

Our works include.
•Structural remediation of rot, insect and moisture damage within historic framework.

•Stabilization of sagging Verandas, rafters and floor joists

•Restoration and replacement of exterior cladding to match original profile and detailing.

•Sourcing and working with reclaimed locally relevant hardwoods and period correct timber species.

Joinery works.

•Repair and replication of intricate Fretwork, Brackets and Barge and Fascia boards.

•Custom matching of historic Skirting boards, Architraves, Picture rails and timber paneling.

•Repair and reproduction of traditional timber sash and casement windows.

The Dandenong Rangers and Yarra Valley hold a rich concentration of 19th and early 20th century properties. We believe that these buildings are so much more than just old properties, they are enduring pieces of our shared local history and identity. By combining traditional carpentry and joinery skills with a deep respect for original materials we ensure that the character, story and soul of our community’s built environment survive for our future generations.
