An architect of over 37 years’ experience, Peter Vernon offers consulting services on heritage conservation projects, including churches, houses and industrial sites and prepares heritage impact statements to support the development of heritage properties through the planning permit process.
Peter is a registered architect with offices in Ballarat and Melbourne. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Architects, a corporate member of the Royal Institute of British Architects, a member of DOCOMOMO and a member of SAHANZ (Society of Architectural Historians, Australia and New Zealand).
For his Master of Architecture from the University of Melbourne, Peter’s research thesis American Know-How and the Myer Emporium is an architectural history of Australia’s largest department store and has been published in part in Fabrications, the peer reviewed journal of SAHANZ. He has also presented papers at the annual conference of SAHANZ.
Peter is also co-owner of the Vernon Drawing Collection, which is one of the largest private collections of its type in Australia and comprising presentation and working drawings of about 1000 projects, many of which are in Ballarat and district, dating back to the 1850s.
