Heritage Capability
EPS has successfully delivered multiple high-profile heritage projects across Victoria, including but not limited to:
Melbourne City Baths (Victorian Heritage Register): Restoration of original banded brickwork, zinc shingle turret roofing, lead-moulded box gutters, skylight upgrades, and suspended scaffolding over the operational lap pool. EPS worked closely with heritage consultants and trades trained in traditional techniques to replicate original finishes and materials.
HMAS Cerberus (Historic Live-In Accommodation): Refurbishment of a heritage-listed barracks building, involving re-roofing with heritage-approved materials, protection of internal murals, conservation of timber and plaster elements, and integration of new services with minimal disruption to the historic fabric.
G.E. Robinson Tennis Pavilion: Conservation and upgrade works to a council-owned heritage facility including roof restoration, façade preservation, and sensitive internal refurbishments aligning with the site’s historical significance.
EPS approaches all heritage work with the understanding that it must respect the cultural, architectural and historical integrity of the building or site. We engage heritage consultants early in the planning phase, and our teams are experienced in interpreting Heritage Victoria permits, working under Cultural Heritage Management Plans (CHMPs) and liaising with traditional owner groups where applicable.
Our methodology includes:
Careful documentation and photographic recording prior to works
Implementation of heritage-specific site protection and hoarding strategies
Selection of heritage-appropriate materials and finishes
Use of trades trained in traditional restoration techniques
Staging and programming that accommodates live environments and public interface
