Rich and Davis Artisan Frame Makers Melbourne is Australia’s distinguished artisan picture frame atelier led by the visionary duo, Reuben Rich and Charley-Lois Davis.

We specialise in making custom gilded, carved, contemporary, period, and reproduction frames tailored to the unique visions of artists, institutions, interior designers, galleries, museums, conservation departments, and collectors across Australia and internationally. Our workshop, methods, and recipes draw inspiration from extensive historical research, international travel, guidance from professional mentors, self-education, and a determined passion for preserving and advancing the craft of frame making.

We produce fine examples of frame making, employing traditional heritage skills such as carving, sculpting, mould making, ornament production, gilding, gesso engraving, marquetry, faux timber and marble finishes, lacquer work, and specialized finishing techniques. These same traditional skills and knowledge are applied not only in creating new frames but also in the careful treatment and repair of antique and vintage frames. Through our extensive work with hundreds of Australian and international antiques, coupled with engagement in contemporary literature on cultural heritage and preservation, our business has amassed, preserved, and shared unique historical information, tools, moulds, and materials related to Australian picture frames and Frame Makers of the past.
