Louisa Yim Architect has been designing alterations and additions to Heritage buildings since 2008.
We focus on the Northcote and Thornbury areas where most buildings are Victorian and Edwardian.
We recommend and are keen to retain the historic frontage and add a more contemporary addition to the rear.
The heritage listed Northcote Pottery and Kiln Cafe was a highlight in incorporating a heritage listed kiln and pottery into a cafe.
We specialise in doing this in a careful and considered way, in keeping with the historical character and details.
Professional Affiliations / Qualifications
As a sole practitioner, I have a Bachelor of Architecture and am registered with the ARBV. I have 26 years practical experience with the Victorian Era buildings in London and also Edwardian and Victorian Eras in Melbourne. I have also worked at Cox Architects, Hayball Architects and Chris Connell Design previously on many projects involving retaining heritage facades and adapting for contemporary use.
I also have a keen interest in preserving the heritage of the Darebin area and have been consulting with the City of Darebin to try and enlist more buildings/areas. Most recently the corner of Gooch St and St David St in Thornbury had a Edwardian Era corner store which should of been retained but unfortunately we were not successful.
