Who We Are

EcoGroup is a Melbourne-based specialist in reclaimed bricks, heritage brick matching, brick recovery and reuse.

From our Clayton facility, we work with heritage architects, consultants, builders, bricklayers, restorers and property owners to help preserve the character and authenticity of Melbourne’s heritage and period buildings.

With extensive experience in demolition and resource recovery, we can assist at both ends of a heritage project – carefully recovering original bricks for reuse and sourcing reclaimed bricks to match existing brickwork.

Our Heritage Expertise

EcoGroup provides specialist services for heritage restoration, conservation, renovation and sympathetic additions, including:

  • Heritage brick matching and sourcing
  • Reclaimed and recycled brick supply
  • Brick salvage and recovery
  • Brick cleaning
  • Brick grading, sorting and palletising
  • Recovery and return of original bricks to site
  • Matching bricks by colour, size, texture and character
  • Supply of period and hard-to-source Melbourne bricks

Where original bricks are recovered from a building, EcoGroup can clean, grade and palletise them before returning them to site ready for reuse, helping retain original building fabric wherever practical.

Where additional bricks are required, our team can assist in selecting reclaimed bricks that sympathetically complement the existing brickwork.

Our Reclaimed Brick Range

Our Clayton brick yard carries an extensive and continually changing range of reclaimed bricks, including:

  • Handmade Apricots – distinctive early-style handmade bricks with warm, varied tones and individual character.
  • Hawthorn Blacks – highly sought-after reclaimed bricks synonymous with many of Melbourne’s period and heritage properties.
  • Old Reds – traditional reclaimed red bricks offering the natural variation and aged appearance required for authentic restoration work.
  • Red Blue Clinkers – richly coloured, textured bricks ideal for matching distinctive period character-filled darker brickwork bricks used across many Melbourne architectural styles.
  • Creams – reclaimed cream bricks suitable for restoration, additions and matching existing brickwork.
  • Builders Bricks – reclaimed bricks suitable for projects where appearance is less critical or bricks will be rendered or concealed.
  • Bluestone – durable, visually striking and famous for their random appearance when used as a construction material, they can give character to any situation.

Because our bricks are reclaimed from demolition and deconstruction projects across Melbourne, our range includes the natural variations in colour, texture, size and character that can be essential when matching existing heritage brickwork.

Preserving Melbourne’s Built Heritage

For EcoGroup, reuse is about more than diverting materials from landfills. Reclaimed bricks retain the history, character and craftsmanship of the buildings they came from.

By recovering, cleaning, matching and returning these materials to use, we help heritage professionals preserve original building fabric while providing a sustainable source of authentic materials for restoration and conservation projects.
