With over 30 years’ experience in archaeology and heritage, the team at ArchLink understands the high level of professionalism and due diligence required for matters of cultural and heritage significance.
Our clients include government organisations, local councils, private developers and other heritage consultants and companies. Our services have been repeatedly sought by Parks Victoria, DEECA, Melbourne Water, Yarra Valley Water, City of Knox, City of Whittlesea, Shire of Yarra Ranges and City of Albury.
The ArchLink team comprises highly qualified and experienced staff members, with a range of expertise in both indigenous and non-indigenous archaeological consultancy work. Our archaeological staff include senior artefact specialists, senior field archaeologists, conservators and Heritage Advisers (HAs) who are qualified to work under the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006 and the Heritage Act 2017.
In addition, we are able to draw on a team of expert specialist subcontractors, including historians and industrial heritage experts as well as a large network of sub-contracting excavation staff that enables the team to surge in capacity for large fieldwork or artefact analysis projects.
The staff at ArchLink attend and contribute regularly at archaeological conferences and undertake training workshops and courses provided by our professional bodies, ACCAI and ASHA, to keep in touch with the latest developments in archaeological practice. Training workshops have included sessions on; raw materials used for making indigenous stone tools; human remains; animal bone; geomorphology; artefact conservation, glass and ceramic artefact identification; and photogrammetry.
ArchLink works closely with Traditional Owners and Registered Aboriginal Parties and the team participates annually in cultural awareness training with recognised cross cultural leaders to ensure we always provide best practice for Cultural Heritage management solutions for our clients and community.

Sarah Myers, Founder and CEO

With over thirty years’ experience in local archaeology and heritage, Sarah is one of Melbourne’s most highly qualified and respected Cultural Heritage Advisors. The author of over one hundred approved reports, including CHMPs, historical archaeological assessments and large-scale excavation reports, Sarah is considered an expert in all aspects of local and State significant archaeological heritage.
Sarah’s professional focus has been on the archaeology of the modern city with much of her work being in an urban context. She directed numerous large-scale archaeological excavations of historical sites in Melbourne, Geelong and Albury prior to development getting underway. Sarah has also developed a passion for identifying Aboriginal stone tools, sensitive landforms and areas of Aboriginal cultural heritage significance. She maintains strong relationships with Registered Aboriginal Parties and Traditional Owner groups. As a result, Sarah has developed ArchLink into the preferred cultural heritage advisor to many local councils and developers.
Sarah is a recognised Cultural Heritage Advisor under the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006, a Full Member of the Australian Association of Consulting Archaeologists (MAACAI) and a Member of the Australasian Society for Historical Archaeology (ASHA).
Joanna Richmond, Director

Joanna is a highly qualified archaeologist and heritage advisor having worked within in Australia and internationally since 1999. After completing her Masters degree, Jo worked in both historical and Indigenous archaeology and participated in several excavations across Victoria. She has successfully authored numerous cultural heritage management plans (CHMPs), cultural heritage assessments (CHAs), archaeological assessments and surveys across diverse environments and is involved in the cataloguing and interpretation of artefacts.
As Director and senior Heritage Advisor, Jo overseas our Indigenous and heritage projects to ensure each one runs smoothly and efficiently. She has a strong working relationship with each client, RAP and Traditional Owner groups with whom we work closely.
In addition to her experience working on Indigenous and historic excavations, Jo has participated in excavations of the Chalcolithic, Early Bronze and Iron Age in Turkey and has published articles on Near Eastern archaeology in international journals. Her key areas of study include prehistoric archaeology, ancient cultures and cultural heritage management and she has a particular interest in the archaeology of women and the division of labour within societies.

Celeste Wing Young, Assistant Director and Conservator

Assistant Director, Celeste, works across different aspects of both indigenous and historic archaeology for ArchLink. Upon completing her MA in conservation, Celeste worked internationally for a private conservation practice, and on numerous archaeological projects as both archaeologist and site conservator within Australia. She has a special interest in the conservation of archaeological material, specifically metals.
Celeste has experience in supervising cultural heritage management plans (CHMPs), archaeological surveys and cultural heritage assessments (CHA). As Senior Archaeologist and Heritage Advisor, Celeste manages our fieldwork teams to ensure each project runs smoothly and efficiently.
Celeste is recognised as a Cultural Heritage Advisor under the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006 and is a full member of The Australian Institute for the Conservation of Cultural Material (AICCM).
Kathryn Roddis, Assistant Director and Artefact Specialist

After completing her Bachelor of Archaeology from La Trobe University, Kathryn joined the ArchLink team in 2016. Since then, she has successfully co-authored several cultural heritage management plans (CHMPs) and archaeological assessment reports, as well as managed the analysis and cataloguing of our historical projects.
Kathryn has participated in several large-scale Victorian and international archaeological excavations giving her invaluable experience in all aspects of field archaeology.
In 2023, Kathryn completed her Master of Professional Archaeology at La Trobe University in 2023. She specialises in organic materials, particularly zooarchaeology and is the project lead and Artefact Manager for both our indigenous and historical projects.
Kathryn is recognised as a Cultural Heritage Advisor under the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006.
Miranda Kinrade, Archaeologist
BA in Archaeology (Hons candidate), Monash University
Miranda joined ArchLink as a technical assistant in early 2021 after finding her passion for archaeology at Monash University. She assisted with the photographic recording and illustration of historical artefacts for the Metro Rail Tunnel project. She has now completed her BA and is currently a candidate for Honors in Archaeology. She is being trained to undertake all aspects of our projects including field work, report writing, and mapping.
Kate Tidswell, Archaeologist

Kate joined ArchLink as a technical assistant in January 2023 as a Monash University student intern. After the internship Kate was employed permanently and has now completed her BA in Archaeology. Kate was involved in the photographic recording and illustration of historical artefacts for the Metro Rail Tunnel project and now assists with all aspects of our projects including field work, report writing, and mapping.
Georgia Taylor, Assistant Archaeologist

Georgia joined ArchLink as an assistant archaeologist in November 2023. She is currently a candidate for a BA in Archaeology at La Trobe University. Georgia is now employed permanently and is involved in the photographic recording and illustration of Aboriginal artefacts for a salvage project in Curlewis on the Bellarine Peninsula. She is also being introduced to and trained to undertake various technical aspects of other current projects.
